wedding cards

We received lots of heart warming cards when we got married last year

I have been keeping all of the lovely cards we were given when we got married in a plastic folder not wanting to throw then out but not sure what to do with them either when I stumbled across this image in pinterest.

I decided that would be a lovely way to display and keep our cards so I set to it. It really was very easy.

All you need is the cards, some ring fastenings, a hole punch and a craft knife
first I cut the cards

I covered the bar codes and writing on the back of the cards with coloured paper

punch holes in the cards
tread the card on the the ring fasteners

for some reason blogger flipped these two photos on to their side?

That is pretty much all there is to it. We have this little book on a shelf in the living room so we can flick through it when ever we fancy.

really easy and very cute

are some of my favorite words when it comes to making Christmas gifts! So imagine how excited I got when I realised I could make these lovely little tea cup candles in less than half an hour.

All you need is a candle( mine are from from IKEA.) and a tea cup this one was from the Salvos.

Put the candle in the cup and stand the wick up.

Then stick in the microwave for five minuets at a time until all the wax has melted, It took about 15 minuets for mine to melt completely., next you need to fish out the wick and hold it in place so that the candle solidifies with the wick running through the middle. I draped mine over a piece of dry spaghetti but anything long enough to balance over the top of the cup will do.

Than wait for it to solidify and you have your self a great Christmas gift!

Deck the halls with homemade decos shala la la la la la la la

This week I have been feverishly making Christmas decorations, some to give as gifts and some to put up in our house this weekend yay!

First up, I made a 24-stocking advent calendar to send to my sister-in-law, Lizz. I made them from some left over red jersey and some fuzzy white wool. It was quite a time consuming project and pretty fiddly, but they came out well so it was worth it. I don't have any photos of them hanging as I had to get them in the post so that they would get to Lizz before the 1st of December! I hope she likes them.

My poor Husband Dave was trying to read his book but I was all Christmas-hyper, so I decorated him with the reject stockings tee hee!

The other Decorations that I have made this year are not in traditional Christmas colours. I thought as it is warm and sunny here I would make some warm and sunny decorations.

I made these decorations by dipping string in to PVA glue mixed with a little water and then wrapping the string around some balloons.

It is important to loosen the dry, glue-soaked wool off of the balloon before you burst it or it will make your ball collapse. Below I am pushing the balloon after the glue had dried.

Once I had taken the balloons out, I was left with these cool colourful balls which I attached to a string of fariy lights, now I just need to decided where to hang them.
